Hello! My name is Lydia

Thank you for taking an interest in me and what the Lord has me doing. I am currently a student at University studying Ministry and Leadership with a concentration in intercultural studies

The Call

In 2019, I was asked to lead my first youth medical missions. I was in no shape to lead and at the lowest I had ever been, yet God had a plan. Over the course of the trip I experienced incredible burnout, but the Lord placed a seed for the love of missions in my heart.

Fast forward to January 2020, during a worship service the Lord said clearer than ever before what University for me to attend, and to my surprise, it was the only one I swore I would never go to. Nevertheless, I trusted in Him, and a few weeks later he said to me “missions.”

The Testimony

When I had lost everything, along with myself, the Lord brought someone into my life. She was the first person that chose to love me and all my brokenness. I began to attend her mom’s Bible study, and after a year, it finally clicked why I had not known God as they did.

God was answering when I cried for help, but I was not willing to take the steps to listen. I grabbed a paper and pen and wrote everything preventing me from giving my all to Jesus. I prayed about each item one at a time and began to cross them off. There was no turning back. My life was his, and I received freedom and an overwhelming sense of belonging. I found my home in Jesus.

The Goal

Since the Lord speaking to me “missions", I have been through many ideas of what that may entail. Silly enough, I first thought I would be a traveling nurse, that dream quickly shut down.

Over my course of time in University, I studied a variety of majors, but always had the goal of missions in mind. There would be times where I would pled with God to tell me my future and his response was always “just graduate.” His words were very true. As I’ve faithfully followed his plan, he has slowly revealed to me more and more about my future.

The Action

University has been an amazing place for me to be challenged and stretched. As I defined my calling more clearly, I decided to minor in Spanish and I also was presented with and opportunity to serve as a chaplain my Sophomore and Junior year. I was not shy to ever leading a group of girls, but the position held a shocking amount of growth for me.

Chaplianing has prepared me to lead with a servants heart. It has taught me to let go of my own ideals and to serve people in a way that benefits them.

Cross-Cultural Immersion

In the summer of 2023 I traveled to México for three months to live in children’s group homes. With no translator, the 11 weeks were incredibly challenging, but prepared me with new skill sets and a realistic expectation of what life overseas looks like.

Next Step

In 2024, I will be doing missions in Honduras and Paraguay. In May, I will be graduating from University and seeking a new occupation
